AFP Essential Edition
Agence France-Presse (AFP), established in 1944, is one of the four major Western international news agencies. Its predecessor was the Havas Agency, founded by Charles-Louis Havas in 1835, and it is now France's national news agency. AFP gained independent status under a 1957 French government decree, providing global news services in French, English, Spanish, German, Arabic, Portuguese, and other languages. Its technical infrastructure includes multiple computers, radio transmission stations, and five artificial satellites. Its global network covers 165 countries and regions.
